A letter from Ar. Jaime Silva, Chair of the UAP Committee on Accessibility:

Please be informed that I will be conducting walkthrough audits on nominated building/facilities in the following regions:

1). Iloilo and Bacolod on May 16.
2). Butuan on May 23
3). Palawan on May 24
4). Davao on May 30
5). Cagayan de Oro on May 31

With this, it would be great if there will also be one or two other architects from the nearby chaopter/district who would join me during these walkthrough audits.  Building/facilities to be audited are nominated establishments for the Apolonario Mabini awards.  Please advice the Chapter Presidents or District Directors of this project, and if interested to join me, they can email me (jaime.silva@cyan.com.ph) or call me (0918-939-7664).

More so, I would appreciate if you could forward to me the email addresses and mobile phone numbers of the District Directors and Chapter Presidents in those provinces noted below.

Bacolod
Iloilo
Butuan
Palawan
Davao
Cagayan de Oro
Kawayan Isabela and Santiago Isabela

There will be more other provinces schedules but would like to focus first on the initial batch of nominated building/facilities which has been scheduled for immediate audits.  This project is in line with the 28th Apolonario Mabini awards which I have been chairing.  For more information regarding the Apolonario Mabini Awards, please check the website of the Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled at:

and open the Apolonario Mabini awards.

Kind Regards,
Jaime Silva

These 3 photos were taken during the Inclusive Education Forum Held at the Asian Institute of Management last January 21, 2015.  The drafted amendment on Inclusive Education (formerly called Special Education Act) was presented to the body, composed of Council of Children With Disabilities, DPT-Ed Advisory Board, PWD NGOs, PWDs representatives, Dept-Ed officials, NCDA, and all other government and non-government organizations.  One of the provision of the draft is to have all schools accessible to Students With disabilities.

During the forum, Ar. Jaime Silva volunteered the UAP Committee On Accessibility together with the Makati CBD Chapter, to help Dept-Ed in the conduct of walkthrough survey to determine how accessible these NCR Dept-Ed schools are accessible to Students With Disabilities.  Since Ar. Silva has gotten confirmation from Makati CBD Chapter President Ar. Richard Franco to help the Committee On Accessibility, he asked Ar. Vanessa Ledesma, a board member of the Makati CBD Chapter to join him in that forum.
